Lucie Olivova received her MA degree in Chinese literature at University of California at Berkeley (1988), and her PhD at Charles University, Prague (1998), where she also taught for 12 years. Since 2004, she is based at Palacky University, Olomouc.
She teaches courses on Chinese Art History and Chinese historical culture. She also staged various exhibitions of Chinese paintings and recently prints, mostly with the National Gallery at Prague.
Her current research include Jesuit court painters in China, and chinoiseries in Bohemia; Yangzhou culture in Qing dynasty; Popular prints( especially zhima); etc.
Besides, she translated literary works from Chinese (Yuan Mei, Yangzhou huafang lu – excerpts, Bei Dao, Bai Xianyong, Xiao Hong, etc.), and edited five Czech anthologies of Chinese / Taiwanese literature.
